Pastor Munther gained international recognition for his powerful sermon titled, ‘Christ in the Rubble’.

Last week, a notable refusal by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, declined to meet with Bethlehem-based pastor Munther Isaac. The reason? Isaac had shared a platform with former UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn during a Palestine protest in London.

Isaac, known for his outspoken criticism of Israel, gained international recognition after delivering a powerful Christmas Day sermon titled “Christ in the Rubble.” His steadfast advocacy for Palestinian rights has earned him both acclaim and scrutiny.

In October 2023, the historical, St. Porphyrius Greek Orthodox Church in Gaza (which was sheltering hundreds of displaced Palestinians) was hit overnight by an Israeli air strike. The Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem and Palestinian health officials reported that 16 people were killed.
