- Valentina Gomez sparks outrage by burning the Quran and threatening Muslims.
- Her history of public acts of bigotry, including disrupting Texas Muslim.
Texas Republican congressional candidate Valentina Gomez has sparked widespread outrage after posting a video on X that shows her torching the Quran, Islam’s sacred text. In the video, she torches a Quran with a flamethrower and vows to “end Islam” in Texas.
Gomez is running as a Republican for Texas’s 31st District in 2026. She told viewers that “your daughters will be raped and your sons beheaded” unless Islam is eradicated. She added, “America is a Christian nation,” and said Muslims should “f*** off to any of the 57 Muslim nations.” The clip ended with her declaring she was “powered by Jesus Christ.”
Gomez has a track record of public displays of anti-Muslim bigotry. She has repeatedly fuelled anti-Muslim hatred.
In May 2025, she stormed Texas Muslim Capitol Day, an annual civic event at the State Capitol. Seizing the microphone, she said, “Islam has no place in Texas. Help me to Congress so we can end the Islamization of America. I only fear God.” Her outburst interrupted the event, which had been centred on prayers, workshops, and discussions with lawmakers.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) denounced her statements, cautioning that rhetoric like hers stokes Islamophobia and poses a threat to religious freedom in the United States.
Muslims make up only 1.1 percent of Texans. But Gomez singles them out for harassment, intimidation, and hate. Her campaign doesn’t just spread rhetoric; it actively endangers the lives of real people every single day.
In December 2024, she staged a mock execution of an immigrant. She shot a dummy tied to a chair and claimed, “Public executions for any illegal that rapes or kills an American. They don’t deserve deportation; they deserve to be ended.”
The hypocrisy is glaring. Gomez is an immigrant herself, born in Colombia. Colombian President Gustavo Petro condemned her, writing: “She is not just an American fascist. She is Colombian. And being a migrant, what she wants is to unleash hatred against migrants. Most Americans are killed by Americans.”
Still, Gomez keeps attacking communities she does not belong to. She once told Black Americans to “kindly” leave the U.S. if they “don’t like it.” She dismissed Juneteenth, the holiday marking the end of slavery, as the “most ratchet” celebration.
Her Quran-burning stunt drew fast condemnation. “This isn’t politics. It’s incitement,” wrote podcaster Brian Allen. “When the mosques start burning, remember: this was the match and the Texas GOP handed her the lighter.” Another X user said, “She will literally do anything for clout. Anything.”
