Colonel Ehsan Daxa, commander of the 401st “Iron Tracks” Brigade, was killed on Sunday by an explosive in northern Gaza.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Daxa “had died in a battle against Hamas” in Gaza.
The incident occurred as Daxa stepped out of his tank alongside other officers to assess his surroundings during a targeted operation in Jabalia.
Daxa held several pivotal leadership roles, including commanding the 82nd and 532nd Battalions, as well as serving as the operations officer for the 7th Brigade. From 2021 to 2023.
The deputy commander of the 162nd Division and the commander of the 52nd Battalion were also among the casualties, according to Israeli army radio, which emphasised that Colonel Daksa was one of four colonels killed since October 7th. Daxa is one of the highest-ranking Israeli officers to have been killed in Gaza since Colonel Yitzhak Ben Bashet, who was killed in December last year in the northern Gaza neighbourhood of Shujaiya.
