• MMA star Khabib Nurmagomedov has reportedly rejected an invitation by Tesla CEO Elon Musk to coach him for a potential fight against Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg.
• Khabib’s decision is said to be influenced by differences in their views on life, alcohol, and drugs.
Renowned MMA fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov has turned down an invitation from Tesla CEO Elon Musk to coach him in a fight against Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. The unexpected challenge emerged when Musk threw the gauntlet to Zuckerberg in a social media post, torching interest from MMA fans worldwide.
Musk’s challenge came shortly after Zuckerberg introduced his new Twitter alternative, Threads, stirring curiosity about a potential clash between the tech titans. In preparation for a matchup, both Musk, and Zuckerberg engaged in training sessions led by MMA legends Georges St-Pierre, Israel Adesanya, and Alexander Volkanovski.
Elon Musk says his fight with Mark will be live-streamed on X, formerly known as Twitter.
However, Khabib, the most inspiring UFC champion, has declined to participate in the training sessions, preferring to distance himself from the spectacle. According to reports from DD Geopolitics, the decision was confirmed by Khabib’s teammates from Dagestan, who stated that he exclusively trains individuals he knows personally. The report cited clashes in their views on life, alcohol, and drugs.
Musk had sought Khabib’s coaching expertise, but the former UFC lightweight champion’s commitment to training only those similar to him in practices of behavior, religion, and companionship led to the decline. Despite his retirement from active fighting, Khabib’s influence as a coach and mentor in the world of mixed martial arts remains significant.
Mendez, Khabib’s former coach, shared insights into how, despite Khabib’s retirement from active competition, he remains dedicated to coaching and providing guidance to his fellow athletes. He highlighted that coaching has consistently been a significant part of Khabib’s life journey.
Throughout his career, Khabib has been driven by a religious motivation to engage in a path that aligns with the principles of Islam. In his series “The Dagestan Chronicles,” he not only integrates Islam into his athletic journey but also serves as a guiding light for his fellow companions, encouraging them to follow a similar path. Therefore, his decision to decline coaching someone like Elon Musk, whose values differ significantly from Khabib’s, comes as no surprise.
Allah s.w.t. says in the Qur’an:
“……..help one another in acts of righteousness and piety, and do not help one another in sin and transgression. Fear Allah. Surely Allah is severe in retribution.”
(Al-Ma’ida, 5:2)
Khabib demonstrated his commitment to religion by standing with righteous companions, firmly declining invitations from those entangled in worldly matters linked to sin.
