Members of the Good News International Church in Kenya starved themselves to death as they believed they would reach heaven as ‘the end of the world was near.’

Mud mounds, topped with crucifixes, were dug up in a remote forest near Kenya’s coast by forensic experts. 70 were proclaimed dead. However, the Red Cross estimate that at least 112 people are missing and that the death toll could be more.

29 survivors have been found so far, so utterly convinced about the end of the world that they seemed upset about being found.

Sadly, resembling a scene from ‘The Walking Dead’, Mr Khalid came across a woman in her late 20s “looking extremely frail” with sunken eyes. However, she did not want to be found or given any help. “When we tried to administer first aid to give her sips of water with glucose with a spoon, she completely refused. She sealed her mouth shut and gestured that she did not wish to receive any help. The woman is now being treated in hospital.

On the 14th April, the cult leader, Paul Mackenzie was arrested following information provided to police about graves containing the bodies of at least 31 of his followers. 14 other cult members are now in police custody. Kenyan media have reported that Mackenzie is refusing food and water.

In the book ‘Forbidden Prophecies’ by Abu Zakaria, many prophecies throughout various civilisations are examined. One being the Maya- in which its people believed that the end of the world was December 12 2012. ‘December 21st, 2012 came and went without incident…………. In spite of this, people continue to be fascinated by the culture and beliefs of the Maya, and still look to their writings in order to try and
gain insight into the future.’ (Abu Zakaria, 2019).

The prophecies mentioned above are of course baseless and tragic. However, he seal of the Prophet’s in Islam, Prophet Mohammed (saw), is the only human who was able to speak of events in the future that were unbeknown to a 7th century desert Arab- knowledge which was given by Allah. Prophet Mohammed (saw’s) prophecies were spoken about with great precision and accuracy. For an example, when the Prophet (ﷺ) was asked about the signs of the Final Hour, one of the signs he mentioned was “when you see the barefoot, naked, destitute shepherds competing in constructing tall buildings.”. When asked to elaborate further, the Prophet (ﷺ) said that ‘they are from the Arabs.’ (Sunan ibn Majah). We see this prophecy coming to fruition today- with the construction and competition of tall buildings amongst Arab nations in the Middle East. Interestingly, the detailed description given by the prophet (saw) was specifically regarding the Bedouins. However, regardless of these prophecies, as muslims, we are not taught to fret about the end of times, and we are taught to respect the lives given to us and to treat them as a special gift given by the Almighty (the total antithesis of the aforementioned Kenyan tribe).

Many other prophecies made by Prophet Mohammed (saw) are evidenced to be true today and can be found in the book ‘Forbidden Prophecies’ by Abu Zakaria.
