  • 132 aid trucks have been blocked by Israeli protest at Karem Abu Salem crossing.
  • Israeli protestors demand captive release before allowing essential aid into Gaza starving 2.4 million Palestinians. Their inhumane and callous actions draw international criticism.

Israel’s Channel 12 have reported that 132 aid trucks are marooned at the Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) crossing, prevented from entering the Gaza Strip due to an Israeli protest of at least a couple of hundred. The boarders being closed has in turn, led to the starvation of 2.4 million Palestinians, whose homes and livelihoods have already been decimated.

Israeli protestors have stated that they are advocating for the release of captives before further humanitarian aid reaches Gaza. They have orchestrated multiple protests with identical demands in recent weeks and have subsequently announced a multi-day march.

This callous and heartless action has sparked international outrage and criticism, as the Israeli protestors illegally attempt to obstruct humanitarian aid and essential resources, crucial for the survival of innocent Palestinian children, women, and men.

According to the internationally recognised 5-phase scale for classifying food crises, over half a million individuals in Gaza (representing a quarter of the entire population) are now deemed to be at the most severe Phase 5, labeled as ‘catastrophic.’ This designation indicates a heightened risk of widespread starvation and death. Furthermore, more than 80% of all individuals classified as Phase 5 globally currently reside in Gaza.

‘The onset of a famine is highly probable unless a ceasefire is implemented and Israel permits increased access to aid and commercial goods in the region’, asserts a UN rapporteur. Moreover, withholding food and humanitarian assistance from civilians constitutes a violation of international law.

The primary interim ruling from the International Court of Justice for Israel was to ensure the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid.

The protesting group are now set to march to Jerusalem.
