  • Israel’s security minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, hospitalized after a car accident; police are investigating.
  • Ben-Gvir is known for terrorism-related convictions and fervently advocates for Palestinian relocation and Jewish settlement expansion.

Israel’s security minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, was hospitalized with minor injuries following a car accident, as confirmed by the police. Video footage circulating on social media depicted the overturned car Mr. Ben-Gvir was travelling in.

Ben-Gvir has an abhorrent track record of convictions tied to promoting terrorism and disseminating reprehensible, racist and anti-Arab rhetoric. Furthermore, he adamantly advocates for the coercive expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza and vigorously champions initiatives aimed at the aggressive establishment of Jewish settlements in the region.

Authorities are presently investigating the accident that occurred today, which also resulted in injuries to two additional individuals. According to police reports, Ben-Gvir was in Ramle, near Tel Aviv, visiting the site of a suspected stabbing incident.

Central district police chief Avi Biton stated that a 21-year-old man had stabbed a 19-year-old woman.

The Israeli ambulance service reported that the woman was conscious but in serious condition and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Taking a Closer look at Ben-Gvir

Initially, an extremist settler, Ben-Gvir ascended to office in the Knesset in 2021. He formerly headed a political faction identified as Otzma Yehudit, or Jewish Power. His significant influence and ideological mentorship trace back to Meir Kahane, a rabbi from Brooklyn who immigrated to Israel in 1971.

Kahane contended that “the idea of a democratic Jewish state is nonsense.” According to his perspective, demographic shifts would inevitably make Israel’s non-Jewish population the majority, advocating for the “immediate transfer of the Arabs.” Kahane’s called Arabs “dogs” who “must sit quietly or get the hell out.”

His political party, Kach (Thus), faced parliamentary exclusion in 1988. Jewish Power represents an ideological successor to Kach, with Ben-Gvir previously serving as a Kach youth leader and expressing veneration for Kahane as a “saint.”

Ben-Gvir has been a provocative figure, prompting members of the current government to engage in divisive and toxic rhetoric, characterized by violent or harsh language from center-right politicians.

President Joe Biden

Joe Biden at a Campaign Reception, December 12, 2023 asserts:

You know, Ben-Gvir is not what you would call someone who — this is the most conservative government in Israel’s history…. I’ve known every, every, every single head of state in Israel since Golda Meir. And I’ve known them because I’ve spent time with them many times.

And this is a different group. Ben-Gvir and company and the new folks, they — they don’t want anything remotely approaching a two-state solution. They not only want to have retribution, which they should, for what the Palestinian — Hamas did, but they want it against all Palestinians. They don’t want a two-state solution. They don’t want anything having to do with the Palestinians.

Gvir’s Zionist Supremacist Ideology

“My right, my wife’s, my children’s, to roam the roads of Judea and Samaria are more important than the right of movement of the Arabs,” said Ben Gvir using a biblical term for the West Bank.

This statement was made by Gvir last year. He subsequently addressed Mohammad Magadli, an Arab journalist, in the broadcasting news studio, saying: “Sorry Mohammad, but this is the reality, that’s the truth. My right for life comes before their right to movement.”

The Palestinian authorities denounced the “racist and heinous remarks by Israel’s fascist minister Itamar Ben Gir, which only confirms Israel’s apartheid regime of Jewish supremacy and racial terror against the Palestinian people.”

Ben Gvir’s Countless Atrocities

At forty-six years old, Ben-Gvir has faced convictions on a minimum of eight charges, such as supporting a terrorist organisation and incitement to racism. His extensive criminal record was notable enough that during a court appearance, there was a need to replenish the printer ink.

In 2015, a Palestinian home was targeted in an arson attack, resulting in the tragic death of 18-month-old Ali Saad and causing injuries to the rest of his family, who were subsequently hospitalised.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un

Ben Gvir was subsequently recorded rejoicing with Israeli settlers as they set fire to and attacked depictions of the 18-month-old child who tragically died.

He advocated for imposing the death penalty on Palestinians held in Israeli jails, categorizing them universally as terrorists, devoid of any legal trial and any evidence.

In addition, the IDF was deployed to dismantle a business owned by an Israeli woman, subsequently compelling her to pose for a photograph in front of an Israeli flag. Gvir shared this image on his social media:

Ben Gvir played a vital role in advancing the expansion of Israeli colonial settlements

In 2018 there was a huge spike in the number of Israeli settlers. Givir had a huge hand to play in this.
