• A Mexican church is selling “plots of land in Heaven” for $100 per square metre, payment options include major credit cards, with millions earned from the sales.
• Similar incidents where Church’s have exploited followers, include a Zimbabwean pastor& an Ugandan pastor urging followers to liquidate assets for a promised afterlife.
A Christian church in Mexico is selling plots of land in Heaven for $100 per square meter. The pastor of the “Church of End Times” claims that in 2017 he received divine authorisation to sell these plots and promises that purchasing any plot—regardless of size—guarantees one’s place in Heaven.
So far, the scheme has reportedly amassed millions of dollars.
Could this be one of the most audacious real estate scams in history?
Images of the offer have been circulating widely on social media, depicting a brochure with an intricate illustration of a heavenly dwelling set among the clouds. The artwork shows a family ascending a golden staircase toward their new celestial home. The brochure also specifies that the church accepts a range of payment methods—PayPal, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express—as well as offering installment plans.
This, however, is not the first instance of someone attempting to sell “real estate” in the afterlife. In 2018, a Zimbabwean pastor was arrested for charging his congregation $533 per person for “tickets to heaven.” Similarly, last year, a Ugandan pastor convinced numerous followers to liquidate their assets, including land and livestock, to secure their place in the hereafter.
We hope the misled followers of such scammers will one day come to realise that access to Heaven is free to all who follow the path of Allah.
