  • They were granted bail with conditions and have a court date on October 3, with a trial set for June 2026.

A man and woman have appeared in court following allegations of raping a dog on at least five occasions. Graham Marshall, 38, and Paige Reaney, 33, are accused of inflicting unnecessary suffering on a dog named Charlie by ‘habitually subjecting him to sexual activity.’ The charges relate to incidents that are said to have occurred ‘at least five times’ between August 2019 and December 2022.

They also face charges for failing to protect the dog from pain and suffering resulting from repeated sexual activity. Marshall, who has no fixed address, is accused of aiding and abetting Reaney in engaging in sexual intercourse with the dog.

Reaney faces a charge related to ‘causing or allowing’ sexual intercourse with the same dog. Marshall is also charged with one count of voyeurism and three counts of possessing extreme pornographic images depicting sexual acts involving an animal. Additionally, he faces eight counts of making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children, some of which are classified as Category A, the most severe.

Reaney, from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, is also charged with one count of possessing extreme pornographic images depicting sexual acts involving an animal.

Sheffield Crown Court

Neither defendant entered a plea during a brief hearing at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday morning. Judge Sarah Wright granted both bail on the condition that they do not contact each other and do not own or care for any animals. She informed them: ‘There’s going to be a further hearing of your case on October 3. You must attend court on October 3; failure to do so is a criminal offence.’ A provisional trial date has been set for June 2026.
