  • Piers Morgan’s motivations for hosting pro-Palestinian guests are questionable.
  • Morgan’s reporting is frequently censured for its bias, as it often neglects the enduring Palestinian struggle. Furthermore, he consistently refrains from denouncing the war crimes committed by Israel, as officially recognized by the United Nations.

Piers Morgan has endured a tumultuous period, grappling with formidable guests who ardently champion the Palestinian cause, leaving him faltering for coherent responses. In light of this, one might naturally question why Morgan continues to extend invitations to pro-Palestinian guests on his show, “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” Moreover, his repeated assertions of “I have provided substantial platforms to pro-Palestinian voices” sound as if he’s wearing a badge of honour. Consequently, these declarations warrant careful examination. This article endeavours to probe into Morgan’s potential motivations.

Morgan recurrently exhibits a noticeable bias in his reporting. He tends to overlook the protracted 75-year struggle endured by the Palestinians and instead chooses to focus solely on events that transpired on October 7th. Furthermore, when called upon to denounce the war crimes perpetrated by Israel (as announced by the United Nations and several other professional bodies), Morgan frequently appears reticent and unforthcoming in his response.

Notably, ‘Talk TV’, which broadcasts ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored,’ is owned by Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch’s on-the-record statement linking support for Palestine to anti-Semitism is exemplified in his 2010 address to the ADL. He remarked, “Often, this new strain of anti-semitism cloaks itself as legitimate criticism of Israel.” This perspective, stands in clear contradiction to the positions held by groups such as Neturei Karta and Jews for Justice. Given the inherent bias in Piers Morgans’s reporting and the alignment of the network he works for, many critics have raised questions concerning the credibility of the ‘uncensored’ designation attached to his show.

In one particularly fiery exchange, rapper Lowkey unreservedly accused both Morgan and the corporate media of blatant pro-Israel bias. Lowkey, with resolute conviction, meticulously referenced the historical and contextual facts of the Palestinian cause, a moment that led to his declaration: “This is not journalism. I am being censored. You talk about uncensored, this is censorship!” On social media, many joined in praise of Lowkey’s impassioned remarks.

Another remarkably impactful and rigorous interview unfolded with Mohammed Hijab, an Oxford-educated philosopher of religion, YouTuber and da’ee, who promptly questioned the introduction of Morgan as ‘controversial.’ This set the stage for a heated discussion revolving around the Gazan atrocities, where Morgan struggled to assert his presence.

In a separate contentious debate centered on Israel, Turkish-American political commentator Cenk Uygur left no room for ambiguity as he took Morgan to task for his one-sided coverage of the Palestinian crisis. Uygur’s frustration with media biases and the treatment of Muslims and Palestinians was palpable.

Yet, the indelible showdown transpired in a conversation with Egyptian comedian and TV host Bassem Youssef, who employed trenchant humour to highlight the paramount importance of balanced reporting. Youssef wittily emphasized the unyielding spirit of Palestinians in the face of adversity, prompting Morgan to grapple for an effective response.

Bassem Youssef’s appearance on Piers Morgan’s show achieved viral status, garnering over 18 million views on YouTube in less than a week. He is scheduled to return to the show.

Despite the formidable challenges, Piers Morgan tenaciously asserts that his platform remains a voice for pro-Palestinians. However, is Morgan being sincere in seeking and showcasing the truth?

Following his episode with Mohammed Hijab, he was asked by a social Media user whether he would invite Mohammed Hijab again. Morgan said, he would, as his ratings have increased significantly since the show.

Between May and November 2022, ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’ consistently garnered 4,000 to 14,000 new subscribers each week. However, a pivotal moment transpired on November 14, 2022, when Morgan shared seven videos featuring Ronaldo, the most prominent figure on Instagram. This collaboration resulted in a gain of 178,000 subscribers and an 22 million views. Subsequently, Morgan has been experiencing a range of 4,000 to 50,000 subscribers per week.

However, a perceptible shift occurred in his viewership following the massacre and tragedy in Palestine. Notably, on October 17th, upon posting his conversation with Mohammed Hijab, he garnered a staggering 7.6 million views. A similar trend continued with his engagement with Bassem Youssef, amassing an impressive 20 million views. The significant surges in viewership have prompted numerous critics to posit that Morgan’s motivation for featuring Pro-Palestinian activists on his show is solely driven by business interests.
