  • The US waved off an Israeli plan to kill Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei in its offensive against Iran.
  • Senior US officials speaking on condition of anonymity, saying that they are not willing to go to war with Iran unless Americans are killed.

President Donald Trump is said to have vetoed an Israeli plan to assassinate Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei after Israel said that they had an opportunity to kill the top Iranian leader, according to two US officials.

On condition of anonymity, two US officials spoke to Reuters on Sunday confirming the veto.

Top US officials have been in consistent contact with Israeli officials in the days since Israel launched its unprovoked offensive on Iran.

When asked about the Reuters report, Netanyahu in an interview on Fox News said: “There’s so many false reports of conversations that never happened, and I’m not going to get into that.

“But I can tell you, I think that we do what we need to do, we’ll do what we need to do. And I think the United States knows what is good for the United States.”

One of the senior US administration officials who spoke to Reuters there are currently no talks on going after the Iranian leadership as not a single American has been killed yet.

Currently at least 14 Israelis have been killed by Iranian missile attacks on Israel and time will tell if any new attacks result in American casualties and how the US will respond.

Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi had announced, as of today, that if Israel stops its strikes on Iran, then Iran will also stop but Israel has continued its attacks on Iran since it launched its offensive on Friday morning and has been reluctant to position itself in an escalatory manner.
