• IDF heedlessness to life has been outlined in its inability to function amongst its own ranks.
• Another twenty eight bodies have been pulled out of the rubble in Gaza.
The collapse took place near the border region, where IDF engineering units were engaged in infrastructure activities. Preliminary reports suggest that the crane, utilized for construction purposes, malfunctioned, leading to its collapse. The exact cause of the malfunction is currently under investigation by military authorities.
One of the soldiers killed in the accident was Nadav Cohen (21) of the Golani Brigade’s 51st Battalion, from Beit Hanan.
The IDF later released the name of the second soldier, Nachman Refael Ben Ami (20) from Eilat, after his family had been contacted.
The IDF has initiated a comprehensive inquiry to determine the factors contributing to the crane’s failure. This investigation aims to assess whether mechanical issues, human error, or external factors played a role in the incident. The military emphasizes its commitment to the safety of its personnel and has stated that all construction and engineering equipment undergo regular maintenance and safety checks.
This incident comes after twenty eight more bodies were found in the rubble in Gaza today.
The Gaza health ministry has said 562 bodies were recovered from the rubble since the ceasefire deal took hold in Gaza on Jan. 19.
