  • A Turkish man sells his home to purchase 150 tents for Gaza, earning the endearing nickname “Abu Dahda” for his selflessness and humility.
  • Abu Dahdah (RA), a revered companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, exemplifies extraordinary generosity.

Last week, a Turkish Muslim man sold his residence and procured 150 tents for Gaza. Presently residing in a rented accommodation, he is affectionately referred to as Abu Dahda by the people of Gaza due to his act of kindness and humble refusal to divulge his real name.

Abu Dahdah (RA), a revered companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, is renowned for his exceptional generosity. He selflessly donated his vast date garden, housed his splendid home and 600 date trees. He did this for the sake of pleasing Allah. This noble act exemplifies the spirit of sacrifice and generosity deeply cherished in Islam. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised Abu Dahdah trees in Jannah as a reward for his immense charity. During the Battle of Uhud, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was deeply moved and shed tears upon passing by Abu Dahdah’s lifeless body, a testament to the profound respect and admiration he held for this remarkable companion.

The story of our Turkish brother is truly inspiring for numerous reasons. Not only is he wholeheartedly answering the call to aid our brothers and sisters in Gaza, but he is also demonstrating a commendable commitment to avoiding ostentation and safeguarding his heart from the dangers of riya.

Palestine has laid bare the hearts of both the despicable and the truly beautiful.

May Allah reward our brother immensely.
