President Trump stated on Saturday that he would like Jordan, Egypt, and other Arab nations to significantly increase their acceptance of Palestinian refugees from the Gaza Strip. He proposed relocating enough of the population to ‘just clean out’ the battered and ravaged area, creating what he described as a ‘virtual clean slate’.
During a 20-minute press briefing aboard Air Force One, Trump also announced the removal of restrictions imposed by his predecessor on the delivery of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel. These restrictions were originally intended to minimise Palestinian civilians casualties as Israel have been relentlessly carpet bombing the Gaza strip, which is now paused by a fragile ceasefire. The Israeli regime has committed multiple violations of the ceasefire agreement.
Referring to the decision, Trump stated, “We released them today. “They’ve been waiting for them (the bombs) for a long time. When questioned about lifting the ban, he justified the move, saying, “Because they bought them”.
Trump, a staunch advocate of Israel, reiterated his unwavering support for the nation. Israel He mentioned having spoken earlier in the day with King Abdullah II of Jordan and planned to hold discussions with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi on Sunday.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants in November last year for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Israel’s genocidal war that has killed nearly 47,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured more than 111,400 since Oct. 7, 2023.
