- Jewish Zionist MP, Bret from Borehamwood, objected to why O’Brien was conducting a live phone-in regarding Islamophobia in the UK.
- Islamophobia is rampant evidently in both the Tory and Labour party and has been for quite some time.
This week, LBC presenter, James O’ Brien conducted a live phone-in on Islamophobia, in light of the recent deplorable Islamophobic comments made by Suella Braverman and Lee Anderson.
Jewish Zionist MP, Bret from Borehamwood, objected to why O’Brien was having a conversation regarding Islamophobia in the UK. Bret wanted to know why the whole conversation was being moved away from antisemitism, given the fact that ‘From the river to the sea’ had been projected onto Big Ben. O’Brien promptly countered by pointing out that Prime Minister Netanyahu had used the exact same words, and yet this did not appear to be a concern for anyone.
Towards the end of the conversation, Bret became flustered and agitated and almost accused O’Brien of being antisemitic. There was of course, absolutely no hint of antisemitism in O’Brien’s comments.
Anti-Zionism, has now been declared legal and a protected stance in the UK.
The Tory’s rampant Islamophobia
According to a survey conducted by Opinium, a significant majority of 521 Conservative party members (58%) perceive Islam as a threat to the British way of life, with only 18% viewing the two as compatible. Additionally, more than half believe the assertion that “Parts of many European cities are under the control of Sharia Law and are ‘no-go’ zones for non-Muslims,” while only a fifth consider this statement false. Furthermore, the number of party members holding a negative perception of Muslims is twice as high as those with a positive view.
However, the Labour Party has not been immune from the stain of Islamophobia
In November 2020, the research and policy centre of the Labour Muslim Network unveiled a pioneering report on Islamophobia within the Labour Party. This research marked the most extensive consultation of Muslim Labour Party members and supporters in the history of our party and movement.
The findings were unsurprising and glaring. The report underscores the consistent experiences of Islamophobia among Muslim members and supporters.
