  • In recent military operations in the Jenin refugee camp and Jericho, several Palestinians were killed, including young men, raising ongoing international concerns about Israel’s use of war crimes, human rights violations and ethnically cleansing Palestines (according to the UN.)
  • Gaza also witnessed renewed violence as Israeli forces killed a Palestinian amid ongoing protests near the separation fence, leading to the closure of the Erez crossing and increased tensions in the region.

Funerals have been held for three of the four individuals killed in a late-night military operation in the Jenin refugee camp, which also left around 30 people injured.

Another young Palestinian lost his life during an Israeli raid in Jericho on Wednesday morning.

A sixth person was killed near demonstrations near the Gaza-Israel separation fence on Tuesday evening.

The shooting of a Palestinian in the head has draws upon the continued concern of Israel’s war crimes, use of force, human rights violations, killing of innocent civilians, and ethnic cleaning which have been criticized by the UN.

Jenin camp witnessed and intense battering on Tuesday night. In July, the Israeli military launched one of its largest operations in the West Bank in years.

Jenin camp

In the morning, residents of the camp began cleaning up a severely damaged house that had been surrounded by Israeli forces. The house was riddled with bullet holes, with broken glass and bloodstains covering the floor.

Large crowds carried the bodies of three of the overnight victims through the camp for burial.

One resident, Umm Omar, pointed out the dried blood around her fingernails from a young militant she had tried to save the previous night. Raafat Khamaysi, injured by Israeli forces near her house at the camp’s entrance, reportedly bled for two hours before succumbing.

Palestinians were prevented from access to an ambulance reaching them, even though a hospital was less than 100 meters away.

The Israeli military claimed that its forces had come under fire from local gunmen during the raid and had used a suicide drone in a rare strike. However, it is important to note, there was no evidence of this.

A video circulating on social media showed Israeli gunfire striking the minaret of a mosque from which shots were being fired.

All four Palestinians killed were men in their twenties, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Shortly after the Israeli troops withdrew from the refugee camp, the Palestinian Authority (PA) reported that gunmen had fired at its compound in Jenin. Militants from the camp accused the PA, which governs parts of the West Bank not under full Israeli control, of failing to protect them.

The violence in Jenin is part of an increase in IDF attacks in the West Bank.

Wednesday morning saw a deadly Israeli military operation in the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp in Jericho. According to the local hospital, a 19-year-old man who lost his life was shot in the head and has since been buried. Witnesses said that local residents had thrown stones at Israeli soldiers who entered the camp.

The onslaught of terror and attacks on the Palestinian people have once again resumed in Gaza, where a Palestinian man was killed by Israeli forces amid several days of protests near the separation fence.

Israel has largely closed the Erez crossing with Gaza since the Jewish Rosh Hashanah holiday in response to renewed demonstrations near the fence, preventing thousands of Palestinian workers from entering Israel. Tuesday evening saw intensified protests in Gaza, with some demonstrators managing to breach the fence at one location.
