• The event celebrated Muslim solidarity, & featured various non-Muslim speakers, including Holocaust expert Dr. Norman Finkelstein who received a standing ovation.
Renowned Jewish historian and political scientist Ilan Pappé delivered a compelling address at the Global Peace and Unity Conference held at London’s Excel Centre this weekend.
Pappé recounted how a mainstream journalist had reached out to inquire about his feelings regarding participation in what he characterised as an “extremist” event. Addressing a captivated audience, he told them how he responded, “Attend the event, as it is open to everyone, and I will provide my answer there.”
He expressed his pleasure at being among the thousands of Muslims present. He also asserted his rejection of a two-state solution, citing the memorable historical era when Jews, Christians, and Muslims coexisted in harmony within the Holy Land.
It is essential to note that the Global Peace and Unity event was precisely what its name suggests—a celebration of Muslim solidarity. The gathering exemplified the values of Islam: love, compassion, commitment, and the pursuit of justice, with those who wish us well and do not seek to harm us in the most inhumane of manners. The event featured numerous non-Muslim speakers addressing the ongoing genocide in Palestine and the barbarism perpetrated by Israel.
Among the distinguished speakers was the esteemed American Jewish political scientist and Holocaust expert, Dr. Norman Finkelstein, who received a warm welcome and a standing ovation from the audience. He addressed what he termed the “Piers Morgan questions,” pointing out the tendency to overlook events prior to October 7th.
The Global Peace and Unity event was a family-friendly gathering that included funfair rides for children, networking opportunities for business professionals, and stalls featuring clothing, international cuisine, books and insightful exhibitions. The event was organised by Islam Channel and showcased a distinguished lineup of international speakers, including Tariq Jameel, Nouman Ali Khan, Fatima Bartakulla, Abdul Raheem Green, Paul Williams, among others.
