• “Even if I were offered $500 million I would not join an Israeli club”, the Norwegian footballer who shocked social media.
• The effects of boycotts are severe and what Ole Saeter’s decision demonstrates great initiative.
A prominent Norwegian footballer has rejected a $910,000 offer to join an Israeli football club.
Ole Saeter, 28 who plays for Norwegian football club Rosenberg BK has rejected an offer which he claims could have made him financially independent.
The basis for his decision was that his moral consciousness would not allow it.
In an interview on why he chose to make this decision Saeter had said:
“I don’t want blood money coming into my account. It would be a nightmare.”
When describing Israel and the idea of moving there to play for the team he said: “In a country I have neither morals nor the values to represent,” outlining the reality of the terrorism of the entirety of the state of Israel.
Some may ponder that perhaps the deal was too short of what the footballer had hoped for and perhaps he may have a better deal hidden beneath the table but according to a Norwegian newspaper he clarifies and courageously says:
“Even if I were offered $500 million, I would not join an Israeli club.”
Ole Saeter is just one of many who have chosen to engage in an action of boycott when it comes to dealing with the terrorist state of Israel. After more then 40,000 deaths (likely 180,000 plus looking at the Lancet study) and the genocide now expanding into neighboring Lebanon, it is pivotal that anyone who sympathizes with Palestine does not buy Israel supporting or aligned products such as co ca cola as this helps the Israeli regime continue on there genocide by being one of the many screws and cogs that are uplifting there economy.
The damning effects of boycotts
Starbucks, Mcdonalds, Cocacola, Nestle and Domino’s pizza have seen sales drop and have lost billions of dollars in market value as a result of boycotts against Israeli associated companies. Several global companies have pulled out theiroperations from Israel too.
Samsung even announced it would shut down it’s operations in Tel Aviv and in June, tech giant intel chose to freeze construction of a $25 billion factory in Israel.
Boycotts have worked more during this genocide then all of the other genocides and massacres Israel has been responsible for this century. Ole Seaeter is a great example of someone who is willing to sacrifice what could have been his financial freedom for the sake of punishing Israel for the crimes they have done and protecting his moral conscious.
Ole Saeter’s Pakistani heritage
Ole Saeter has previously worn a shirt with the Pakistani flag on it.
The footballers ancestry goes long back to Pakistan and he has shown no fear in showing his ancestry and love for Pakistan to the public.
Although he has not played for Pakistan in any of the world cups, he is eligible to represent Pakistan due to his maternal ancestry.
It’s very possible that his acceptance and fondness of different cultures has been one of the things that have made him very conscious of the Palestinian plight and continuous genocide in Gaza. Moreover, Saeter is on the right side of history and humanity.
