Dr. Manaf’s suspension ensued following complaints from pro-Israel organisations regarding his rhetoric.

The 34-year-old from Sheffield is currently under investigation.

Embarking on the path to becoming a doctor in the UK entails approximately 5 to 6 years of undergraduate medical education, complemented by 2 years of foundational training. This initial phase is followed by specialized training tailored to one’s chosen medical field. In total, this spans a period of 10 to 15 years from the moment one enters medical school to the attainment of full specialization.

Taking this into account, should a doctor (with an impeccable professional record), choose to voice dissent against Zionism- a movement implicated in the massacre of more than 30,000 Palestinians, face removal from their profession? This raises profound questions regarding the purported freedoms of speech upheld in the Western world.

Furthermore, an inquiry by S2J News into Dr. Manaf’s social media activity has yielded no evidence of anti-Semitism.

A GMC spokesperson asserted: “Dr Munaf has been interim suspended pending the conclusion of a full GMC investigation… We are acutely aware of the concerns that have been raised regarding Dr Munaf, and we will take action where concerns suggest patient safety or the public’s confidence in doctors may be at risk.”

After learning of the news, Dr. Munaf boldly directed his criticism towards the GMC through a series of tweets.

“Alhamdulillah ala qule haal. They think they can shake me. We are the ummah of the greatest man, ﷺ Shame on you cowards. @gmcuk”

-Dr Asif Munaf

“What tremendous shame it is to see the regulatory body of an honourable profession be (ab)used as a pawn by the Zionist lobby in this a proxy tit for tat over their genocide. What a waste of time. What a waste of doctors registration fees. Absolute shame on you @gmcuk”

“Do not stop speaking about the genocide.”

The pro-Israel Campaign Against Antisemitism penned a letter to the GMC earlier this month, urging for Dr. Munaf’s removal from the medical register. They claimed that his remarks are “vile and have no place in the medical profession.”
“Given the gravity of these allegations, it is right that the GMC has suspended him pending an investigation, following our complaint. The GMC must send a message of zero tolerance of antisemitism. We will be monitoring this case closely,” they said.

However, Dr. Munaf has steadfastly adhered to his Islamic principles and anti-Zionist beliefs despite enduring a barrage of criticism from the mainstream media regarding his anti-Israel social media content.

Dr. Munaf, recently omitted from The Apprentice spin-off show ‘You’re Fired’, has long been an outspoken critic of Zionism and Israel. However, his social media presence has garnered increased attention since October 7th and the subsequent actions by Israel, commonly referred to as genocide.
