  • Maldives implements ban on Israeli passport holders entering the country amid the ongoing genocide.
  • President Muizzu intends to designate an envoy to assess Palestinian needs and launch a fundraising initiative with backing from UNRWA.

The Maldives has opted to bar Israeli citizens from entering the island nation amid Israel’s ongoing massacre of Palestinians.

“President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, following a recommendation from the Cabinet, has resolved to impose a ban on Israeli passports,” stated the president’s office.

This decision involves amending relevant laws to restrict Israeli passport holders from entering the Maldives and establishing a Cabinet subcommittee to oversee these measures.

Additionally, Muizzu plans to appoint a special envoy to evaluate the needs of Palestinians and initiate a fundraising campaign with support from the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).

Israeli passport holders are also barred from entry into Algeria, Bangladesh, Brunei, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Yemen.

Muslim travellers arriving at Tel Aviv airport, regardless of their nationality and ethnicity, are invariably subjected to the demeaning apartheid system from the moment they set foot in the terminal. Numerous Muslims have been denied entry into the state simply for posting a pro-Palestine comment on their social Media accounts.

Diaspora Palestinians are denied the right to return to their homeland, while New Yorkers, for example, can illegally occupy homes based solely on their Jewish identity, even if they have never set foot on the land.

Over the past eight months, more than 36,000 Palestinians have been relentlessly killed in Gaza due to Israel’s ongoing assault, with the majority being women and children, and over 82,000 others sustaining injuries, as per local health authorities.

Gaza remains in ruins due to Israel’s blockade, which severely limits access to food, clean water, and medicine to civilians.

Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which recently ruled for Tel Aviv to cease its operation in Rafah immediately, where over 1 million Palestinians sought refuge from the brutal massacre.
