  • Lauren Booth is aiding Palestinian refugees in Cairo through Iqra Charity, addressing their severe hardships and uncertainty.
  • Her inspiring work underscores the need for resolute support for our Palestinian brothers and sisters.

Our dear sister Lauren Booth is currently working with Iqra Charity in Cairo to support Palestinian refugees who have fled Gaza.

Lauren Booth shared her experiences, stating:

“Having met some of the families from Gaza, they are feeling insecure in Egypt. Having escaped a genocide, they now face uncertainty with only a temporary visa and no clear future.”

In her Instagram update, Booth highlighted the distressing situation of many Gazan refugees, who are receiving troubling and heartbreaking phone calls from relatives still in Gaza. These messages reveal that some family members are struggling with no place to stay, sleeping on the streets, or enduring constant bombardment. Others are “sitting on their own waiting for their end,” sister Lauren said in her update.

She went on to say:

“We have to park our emotions. We have to really be strong for our brothers and sisters. Give them the support they need and stand in solidarity and let their emotions be the only emotions involved in this….it just means get the work done guys…Let’s help with this victory.”

Sister Lauren’s extensive philanthropic work serves as an inspiration to many, including myself. What I admire about her is how she uses her femininity for a cause of khair, Allahumma Barik. May Allah swt accept her efforts.

We should support this initiative by donating to the charity Sister Lauren is working with on the ground, which is providing essential aid to Palestinian refugees in Cairo. Please donate here.

Another dedicated advocate providing crucial on-the-ground support to our Palestinian brothers and sisters is humanitarian aid worker brother Waseem Iqbal. You can contribute to his efforts by donating through his page.

In July, the leading medical journal The Lancet published a report asserting the reported figures for Palestinian fatalities are likely a severe underestimation of the true number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since October 7th. The report concluded that the death toll could exceed 186,000.

The most documented genocide in history and the ongoing live-streaming of barbarism and brutality in Gaza continue as the world observes. We must remember that our Palestinian brothers and sisters need our support now more than ever.

May the oppressed Palestinians be liberated and find justice sooner than we can imagine, Ameen.
