Israeli settlers have erected provocative billboards declaring “There is no future in Palestine” alongside images of displaced Gazans. IOF, of course, took no action.

Israel has executed its largest land seizure in the West Bank since the Oslo Accords, marking 2024 as a record year for territorial annexation.

Israeli settlers have erected yet another inflammatory billboard in the West Bank, emblazoned with the chilling message: “There is no future in Palestine.” The statement is paired with an image depicting displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, ominously insinuating that a similar fate awaits those in the West Bank.

This is not an isolated incident; numerous such billboards have surfaced in recent months, with Israeli Occupation Forces predictably refraining from intervening.

In September 2024, Jenin, situated in the northern West Bank, became the epicentre of a devastating Israeli military campaign that has left the area in ruins and its inhabitants fleeing in desperation. This assault represented the most severe of its kind since Operation “Defensive Shield” at the height of the Second Intifada in 2002, raising grave concerns among international observers and humanitarian organisations.

The global community has expressed alarm, with the United Nations and numerous countries denouncing the Israeli actions. The UN called for an immediate halt to these operations, cautioning that the violence is exacerbating an already volatile situation in the region. France, Britain, Spain, and others joined in condemning the Israeli offensive.

On Saturday night 21-year-old journalist Shatha Sabbagh, who had been reporting from Jenin was killed.

Last year, Israel sanctioned the largest land seizure in the occupied West Bank in over 30 years, as reported by the anti-settlement watchdog group, Peace Now. This move involves the appropriation of 12.7 square kilometres (nearly 5 square miles) in the Jordan Valley. According to Peace Now, this is the largest single appropriation since the 1993 Oslo Accords.

This land seizure follows the appropriation of 8 square kilometres (roughly 3 square miles) in March and 2.6 square kilometres (1 square mile) in February, marking 2024 as a record year for Israelis stealing land in the West Bank.
