Israeli occupation forces violently assaulted the family of a recently freed Palestinian prisoner in the town of Kafr Aqab, north of the occupied West Bank city of Jerusalem, on Saturday evening, according to local sources.
Sources reported that the occupying forces forcibly entered the town and raided the family home of Ashraf Zughayyir, one of the prisoners released as part of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. During the raid, heavily armed soldiers opened fire, injuring two individuals.
While inside the residence, soldiers briefly detained Zughayyir himself and arrested his brother, allegedly to suppress any public displays of joy, as confirmed by the Jerusalem Governor’s Office in a press statement.
The Jerusalem Governor’s Office reported that occupation forces also raided the family home of Ibrahim Abu Sneineh in the town of al-Ram, north of Jerusalem, and dispersed a gathering of people celebrating his release.
