• The latest Israeli airstrikes killed 16 Palestinians, including five women and four children, with residential areas like the Nuseirat refugee camp heavily targeted.
• Israel’s military offensive in Gaza has killed over 41,206 people, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
Israeli airstrikes continue to ravage the Gaza Strip, with the latest bombardment claiming the lives of at least 16 Palestinians, including five women and four children. As Israeli forces persist in their assault, Palestinians are left to bury their dead in the midst of destruction, despair, and a lack of global accountability.
In the early hours of Monday, a devastating strike leveled a family home in the overcrowded Nuseirat refugee camp, killing 10 people. Among the victims were four women and two children. A mother and her six children were among those pulled from the rubble, marking yet another instance of civilians paying the ultimate price for Israel’s military campaign. At Awda Hospital, where the bodies were taken, medics struggled to keep pace with the influx of casualties. Another 13 people were injured in the same strike, many critically, further overwhelming Gaza’s already decimated healthcare system.
A separate airstrike hit Gaza City, killing six more people, including a woman and two children. First responders from Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that the strike targeted a residential building in the Zeitun neighborhood, which has been a frequent target since the Israeli assault began. Adding to the tally of civilian casualties, two people were killed in Rafah after Israeli forces targeted the home of the Abu Shaar family.
The Israeli government and military have framed their actions as a legitimate response to terrorism, but as the slaughter stretches into its eleventh month, the cost to civilian life in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels. According to Gaza’s health ministry, more than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed since the genocidal military campaign began. Israel, however, has repeatedly dismissed these figures, and continues to shield its military operations behind the claim of fighting “terrorism.”
Despite mounting international criticism and clear violations of international humanitarian law, Israel continues to operate with near impunity, claiming that its military operations are purely defensive. However, the reality on the ground tells a different story, as the overwhelming majority of those killed in these strikes are civilians, mostly women and children.
