Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu aligned himself on Sunday with National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, supporting measures to place stringent restrictions on Muslims’ access to Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan. According to sources, the decision is not yet final and is still under consideration.
Ben Gvir advocates for allowing only worshippers over the age of 70 into Al Aqsa Masjid, as reported by Ynet news. Channel 12 suggests that the criteria will likely permit men over 60 and children up to the age of 10 to enter the complex, with the precise number to be determined based on police recommendations, as reported by Haaretz.
Why Muslims will never let go of Al-Aqsa
Al-Aqsa mosque, also known as the land of the prophets, is an incredibly sacred site for Muslims. It is mentioned in the Qur’an as “holy” and “blessed” in numerous verses.
“Glory be to Him who carried His servant by night from Al Masjid Al Haram to Al Masjid Al Aqsa; the environs of which We have blessed, that We might show him some of Our signs. Indeed He is the Hearing, the Seeing.”

Prophet Mohammed (saw) taught his followers to undertake a special journey to one of three important mosques: Masjid Al-Haram in Mecca, Al Masjid An-Nabawi in Madinah, and Masjid Al-Aqsa in Al-Quds. Prayers in Masjid Al-Aqsa are believed to bring immense blessings, with worshippers receiving at least 500 times the reward compared to prayers performed in other locations.
In countless unsuccessful attempts to break the spirit of Palestinian Muslims, Israel have attacked the Al-Aqsa compound repeatedly during Ramadan. The potential decision to restrict access to worshippers this year, will once again, not deter Palestinian Muslims from worshipping their Creator in shaa Allah- as we see the faith of our beautiful brothers and sisters in the land of the prophets only becoming stronger.
