- A UN peacekeeping force has suggested Israel has committed an estimated 100 violations of the ceasefire agreement that went into effect last Tuesday.

From attacking a funeral procession to roaming tanks deeper into Lebanese territory to killing dozens more people in airstrikes, it becomes apparent that although a ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon has not completely collapsed, it hangs by a mere thread after repeated violations.
On Monday, CNN’s Clarisa Ward cited a UN peacekeeping source that Israel has committed approximately 100 violations of the ceasefire agreement since last Tuesday.
The UN interim peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNFIL) is an international body of over 10,000 personnel from a range of different countries such as France, China, Italy, and Indonesia.
The role of UNFIL in Lebanon is to monitor activity there as part of a previous ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon out of Israel’s previous occupation in the region.
Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor another organisation monitoring the situation in Lebanon, said: “Israel’s ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon represent a serious breach of its legal obligations, including international norms and laws.
“This unlawful use of force undermines the sovereignty of the Lebanese state.”
CNN has said that Israel has said it is simply ‘enforcing’ the ceasefire despite Israeli forces killing dozens of people in Lebanon, according to Lebanese officials.
Immediately after the ceasefire began, Israel committed what seemed to be violations in the first few hours of the agreement going into effect. Israeli forces targeted and wounded two journalists just hours after the ceasefire began in a southern border town in Lebanon, while, around the same time, Israeli forces reportedly shot at two civilian vehicles in south Lebanon.
Israel has threatened to resume its deadly offensive in Lebanon if the ceasefire agreement collapses, something analysts have claimed it has not even in spite of all this.
