Haaretz reported a surge in Israeli reserve soldiers refusing to serve, with only half reporting for duty.

Israel Hayom revealed that only 177 out of 10,000 ultra-Orthodox individuals responded to draft orders since July 2024, prompting over 1,000 arrest warrants.

Israeli Haaretz newspaper has reported a significant increase in the number of reserve soldiers refusing to serve.

“The reserve soldiers’ reluctance to serve has become a reality,” the paper stated, revealing that only half of the reserve soldiers have reported for “duty,” while the Israeli occupation army is attempting to conceal this.

Haaretz also noted that the military anticipates greater strain on regular forces due to the ongoing assault on Gaza and heightened security concerns along the border.

On Sunday, Israel Hayom published new data from the Israeli military highlighting major challenges in recruiting members of the ultra-Orthodox community.

“Only 177 individuals have been drafted out of 10,000 draft orders issued to them since July 2024, representing a mere 1.77%,” the paper reported, citing information shared during a meeting of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee.

Lieutenant Colonel Avigdor Dickstein, responsible for promoting ultra-Orthodox recruitment into the Israeli occupation military, stated that the military had issued 2,231 second draft orders to those who ignored the initial summons and over 1,000 arrest warrants for draft evaders.

However, reports indicate that Military Police are not currently planning to carry out arrests.
