Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for intensified pressure on Israel to end its military campaigns in Gaza and Lebanon, labelling the Israeli occupation forces as a “killing machine.”
In a phone call with Oman’s Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al-Said, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Oman’s “firm stance on Israeli violations” and emphasised the importance of enhancing regional cooperation. He highlighted the significance of fostering amicable relations among neighbouring countries, stating, “Strengthening friendly relations and expanding regional cooperation guarantees a shared vision to solve the region’s problems.”
Pezeshkian stressed the need for “greater unity” among Muslim nations, remarking that:
“If Muslim countries act collectively, the Zionist regime will not dare commit violations so easily, nor will the US and Western countries be able to support it.”
Sultan Bin Tariq Al-Said echoed these sentiments, praising Tehran’s position on Gaza and Lebanon and criticising the West’s double standards, declaring, “Continued Western support for Israel’s crimes is neither acceptable nor justified.”
The Sultan reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to defending the “rights of oppressed people in the region,” emphasizing that ending Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon is Muscat’s foremost priority.
Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel faces mounting international criticism for its ongoing brutal offensive in Gaza. The International Court of Justice is currently trying Israel for genocide against Palestinians, and The Lancet journal reported in June that over 186,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 7th, with 99,246 wounded. Additionally, more than 11,000 individuals remain missing, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes.
