Bittu Bajrangi, a well-known Hindu monk and Islamophobe recently delivered a hate speech that has drawn widespread condemnation. His incendiary remarks called for the boycott of Muslim-owned businesses on the Hindu festival of Diwali. He said,

“On Diwali no Hindu should buy goods from these monsters (Muslims).”

Statements such as these would have course only incite further fear and division within the community.

Bajrangi’s words serve as a stark reminder of the hateful and extremist ideology of the BJP and Hindutva extremists.

Advocating for the boycott of Muslim-owned businesses solely based on their religious identity is not only ethically problematic but also has the potential to divide communal relationships.

Presently released on bail amidst allegations of involvement in the recent anti-Muslim violence in Nuh, in which more than 300 homes, businesses and roadside shanties belonging to Muslims were bulldozed. Bajrang has engaged in an investigation led by the Faridabad Police. He faced allegations of attempting to incite religious discord through the dissemination of inflammatory videos and the ostentatious display of weaponry during a Hindu religious procession which led to the filing of a legal case against him.
