George Galloway’s stunning win in Rochdale has had many tongue wagging this morning.
“Keir Starmer – this is for Gaza”, he said. “You will pay a high price for the role that you have played in enabling, encouraging and covering for the catastrophe presently going on in occupied Gaza, in the Gaza Strip.”
Galloway secured a commanding triumph, amassing 12,335 votes, constituting 39.7% of the overall count, surpassing all prognostications. This granted him a substantial majority of 5,697 votes. The former Labour parliamentarian’s impressive performance eclipsed his nearest competitor by nearly 6,000 votes. Consequently, Mr. Galloway will ascend to his parliamentary position representing the Workers Party of Britain.
Labour, forsaking Azhar Ali due to his remarks on Israel, languished in fourth place, managing a mere 7.7% share, a stark contrast to their once formidable near-10,000 vote margin in the constituency.
Having successfully ousted his former party in three successive elections, he is set to make a return to parliament, this time as the representative of a fourth constituency in a career spanning 37 years. Standing at the podium, Galloway addressed Starmer, saying:
“This is going to spark a movement, a landslide, a shifting of the tectonic plates, a score of parliamentary constituencies, beginning here in the north-west, in the West Midlands, in London, from Ilford to Bethnal Green and Bow.”
“Labour is on notice that they have lost the confidence of millions of their voters who loyally and traditionally voted for them generation after generation,” he said.
Mr. Galloway also commented on the parallel policies shared by Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak.
The esteemed and respected lawyer, Akunjee, who is contending for the parliamentary seat representing Bethnal Green and Stepney in the forthcoming General Election, conversed with Nick Ferrari this morning on LBC regarding Galloway’s triumph.
When asked whether the Jewish community should harbor concerns about Galloway’s presence in parliament, Akunjee highlighted to Ferrari and the LBC audience, Galloway facing an attack from pro-Israeli lobbyists. He referenced a previous assault where Mr Galloway was attacked by an individual wielding a hammer, resulting in the assailant receiving an 16-month prison sentence.
