  • Gaza endures relentless Israeli air strikes overnight. Power supply is halted, affecting high-rise residents. 2 mosques and 3 banks have been desecrated.
  • Over 300 Palestinians and 350 Israelis have been killed. Pro-Palestinian demonstrations emerge in Turkey, Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq.

Gaza has endured a relentless onslaught of overnight Israeli airstrikes, further compounded by the enduring land, air, and sea blockade.

The recent events have led to deaths of more than 300 Palestinians and 350 Israelis. Additionally, over 1,700 Palestinians have sustained injuries, including 20 children who have tragically lost their lives. 1,021 children have been injured.

Residential homes targeted

During the night, the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) have conducted a series of forceful incursions into Palestinian residences. The towers on the Gaza Strip consist of apartments, media offices, and medical facilities, while the rest primarily serve as homes of residence for Palestinians.

In the early hours of today, Watan Tower, a residential edifice, faced a dire assault. Just the day prior, the adjacent Aqluq Tower, positioned opposite the residence of Sadat al-Qaluq, the esteemed producer associated with the news outlet Al Jazeera, experienced a similar attack, leaving the windows of his residence utterly shattered. Furthermore, residences belonging to senior Hamas leaders have also become points of targeted operations.

Power Cuts

The Israeli Energy Minister has instituted a complete cessation of power and electricity supply in the region. This plight affects a significant number, with approximately 3.2 individuals residing within every 365 square kilometres of the enclave. Notably, Palestinian authorities have fulfilled their financial obligations for paying for these services. The consequences are evident: elevators within numerous high-rise residential towers have fallen silent, leaving residents further stranded in their confines.

The profound power asymmetry between Israel and Palestine is glaringly evident. Israel, a nuclear superpower generously supported by billions in funding from U.S. taxpayers, possesses an arsenal of cutting-edge military capabilities that ranks among the world’s most advanced.

In stark contrast, the Palestinians find themselves ensnared within a suffocating blockade, devoid of a naval force or access to heavy artillery.

Israel has historically been responsible for a significant number of Palestinian children losing their lives.

Palestinian children are persistently separated from their mothers, subjected to interrogations conducted in Hebrew, a language foreign to them, and tragically, coerced into signing confessions for offences they have not perpetrated.

Before the recent chain events; just last week, there were distressing instances of Christian Palestinians facing indignities, including acts of spitting by Israelis. Additionally, an Israeli settler group caused significant damage to Palestinian livestock, and a tragic incident occurred where a 16-year-old Palestinian boy lost his life.
