A British Muslim tax advisor who specialises in tax disputes has cut ties with former English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson due to his involvement in stoking far-right race riots across the UK.
While attempting to post messages of ‘love and support’ to his supporters, Robinson mistakenly posted a message from Jesminara Rahman in which she declined to continue representing him and hassince returned his deposit. She wrote:
‘I am just letting you know that in good conscience with your instigation of riots in the UK, causing a lot of people to suffer. I can’t represent you anymore. Please provide your bank details so I can return your deposit.’
‘Between you and the Zionists, you are destroying our country. The irony is that if I were in the streets, your followers would attack me because of the colour of my skin.’
Rahman’s statement on Robinson’s role in gaslighting the public is bluntbut also goes on to distinguish that there are two groups in play who have Islamophobic agendas – the extremists he represents and the Zionists, who Robinson has said he would support.
The irony of hiring a Muslim tax advisor, especially since he is known for his anti-Islam rhetoric, is quite stark. This indicates that Robinson is highly inconsistent in his views and beliefs, which should surely shock his followers, especially when the source for the original article is a right-wing newspaper.
This situation is likely to have people questioning him and the validity of what he spews, but also questioning themselves when their views lack validity from an established and recognised source.
People may become more encouraged to find common ground and educate themselves with facts, rather than be force-fed information by hatemongers, to make informed decisions rather than act on the delusions of others, like Robinson.
