• Darren Grimes has deleted a tweet showing women mourning for the pope after finding out they were not Muslim but rather Christian nuns.
• Grimes was met with huge backlash from even far-right figures. Jayda Fransen.
Darren Grimes, 33, is a right-wing political commentator and former GB News pundit and has deleted a deeply divisive racist tweet after finding out the people in the picture were actually Christians and not Muslims.
Darren Grimes is a deeply divisive figure who is known for his deeply inflammatory and deliberately antagonistic discourse.
Many consider his approach to public discourse to be aimed more at provoking outrage than fostering meaningful conversation.
He said in a tweet that he later deleted: “I’m so angry at this, typical BBC using Muslim women to talk about Pope Francis dying.”

The tweet showed a screenshot of what appears to be women in headscarves mourning the late pope after his passing.
Little did Grimes know that the picture was not Muslim women but rather Christian nuns.
The tweet had received some backlash on social media, with even far-right activist and self-proclaimed Christian nationalist Jayda Fransen feeling the need to comment.
She said: “This (deleted) post is a prime example of how right-wing standards have slipped.
“I wouldn’t expect Darren Grimes (a homosexual who advocated for children to learn about transgenderism) to know the difference between a hijab and a habit… can we stop pretending he’s conservative?”
