• Jordan Peterson and Ezra Levant’s recent conversation highlighted Elon Musk’s support for Tommy Robinson, including legal and financial assistance.
• This further raises concerns about Musk’s role in normalising hate speech, amplifying Islamophobic narratives, and deepening societal divisions in the UK.
During a recent sit-down for the Daily Wire, Dr Jordan Peterson engaged in conversation with Rebel Media founder Ezra Levant. It’s fun that Jordan Peterson finally has a personality and has stopped shape shifting—for now at least. After all, Peterson has been zealously clawing his way up the echelons of the right-wing boys’ club.
One of the more amusing moments of this interaction came when Peterson earnestly tried to convince us that Tommy Robinson is, in fact, an intelligent man.
Yet the magnum opus was Levant’s comparison of Tommy Robinson to Jesus Christ: “There is something Christ like about a man who will take on suffering for other people in the pursuit of some ideal that he needs to bring attention to”, as a Muslim, I take great offence.
Saving the best for last: Ezra, with a solemn expression, explained that Robinson had received a crash course on how to avoid legal entanglements—with, wait for it—experts present. Levant also revealed that a charity has been set up to feed Tommy’s children.
In January, while rumours swirled about Elon Musk supporting Robinson, these were dismissed as mere hearsay until Ezra confirmed that Tommy will indeed receive both financial and legal assistance from Musk. Robinson’s representatives said on Telegram last month that Musk “and his team are only involved in two cases” and that no discussions had taken place with the X owner and Donald Trump appointee over Robinson’s wider legal battles (pertaining to Terrorism charges).
Robinson, who co-founded the radical English Defence League party, was jailed in 2024 after breaching a court order imposed over his repeated libelling of a Syrian refugee schoolboy.
The 41-year-old whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon has been charged with a terrorism offence after refusing to surrender his phone to the police. Robinson has been challenging his treatment in prison on human rights grounds.
Robinson has spent decades greasing the wheels of Islamophobia, stoking public fear and inciting some of the most abhorrent riots in Britain’s recent history, all while lounging on a sunbed in Ayia Napa.
Musk’s willingness to fund Robinson highlights his troubling tendency to normalise Islamophobia, hate speech and division in the UK. Through his vast platform and influence, Musk amplifies the harm caused by right-wing extremists to the Muslim community. He has also perpetuated grossly false narratives, such as the fabricated notion of ‘Muslim grooming gangs’ deepening societal rifts.
