- Israeli Minister, Amichai Eliyahu continues to make fanatical and terroristic statements without any consequences.
- His calls for action, however, are not mere rhetoric; Israel’s onslaught against Palestine has historically intensified during the sacred month of Ramadan.
Israeli Heritage Minister’s Unchecked Extremist Rhetoric
Fanatic Israeli minister’s statement on Friday called to “wipe out” the month of Ramadan.
“The so-called month of Ramadan must be wiped out, and our fear of this month must also be wiped out,” Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu told Army Radio.
The notion of Israel expressing fear during Ramadan is somewhat ironic, given its long-standing tradition of annually targeting Masjid al-Aqsa, the imprisonment of children and erupted violence against Palestinians during the holy month.
Eliyahu serves as a minister representing the Otzma Yehudit party, which is led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
In November, he said dropping a “nuclear bomb” on the Gaza Strip is “an option.”
Worshipping at Masjid al-Aqsa during Ramadan
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh delivered a televised address on Wednesday, urging Palestinians to gather at the mosque in the holy city after Israel’s recent announcement of restrictions on who will be allowed entry into Masjid Al-Aqsa.
Haniyeh stated, “This is a call to our people in Jerusalem and the West Bank to march to Al-Aqsa from the first day of Ramadan.”
In response to this announcement, the United States on Wednesday called upon Israel to permit Muslims to worship at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem during Ramadan. This request came after Israeli minister Ben Gvir suggested preventing Palestinians from the occupied West Bank from praying there.
Consequently, a report by Israel’s Channel 12 on Wednesday said that Israel will now make a U-turn on the restrictions imposed on Palestinian Muslims entering the holy site. Instead, it will be determined by Israeli police, who will be allowed entry.
The so-called U-turn, of course, is insufficient, considering the historical mistreatment and violations by the IDF of innocent worshippers attempting to pray at Al-Aqsa mosque during Ramadan.
America is urging for a hostage exchange and a ceasefire
Israeli media reports indicate that the American administration is applying pressure on Tel Aviv to negotiate a hostage exchange and a ceasefire in Gaza before the onset of Ramadan, which is approximately eight days away.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Thursday that it is too early to declare that Tel Aviv has finalized an agreement on a prisoner exchange with Hamas.
Consistently breaching International Law, Israel continues with its genocidal actions
Amid widespread destruction and shortages of essentials, a minimum of 30,035 Palestinians have been killed by Israel, with 70,457 others sustaining injuries.
Israel has enforced a severe blockade on the Gaza Strip, pushing its population, especially those in the northern region, to the brink of starvation.
85% of Gaza’s population have been pushed into internal displacement by Israel amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
The International Court of Justice has levelled accusations of genocide against Israel. An interim ruling in January mandated Tel Aviv to halt genocidal activities and implement measures ensuring the provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza civilians.
