  • Aziz Qureshi’s critique of Congress circulated on social media by BJP’s Pankaj Chaturvedi.
  • Former governor Qureshi challenged Congress, questioned Muslim support for parties amid limited opportunities.

A video capturing Aziz Qureshi’s speech, in which he voiced criticism against his own party Congress for attempting to placate Hindu nationalists, was circulated across social media platforms by Pankaj Chaturvedi, a spokesperson for the BJP.

Aziz Qureshi, a former governor of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Mizoram, boasts an extensive political career. He assumed the presidency of the Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy in 2020 and previously held a cabinet minister position in the Madhya Pradesh government. In the 1984 Lok Sabha election, he secured a seat from Satna.

Qureshi’s recent remarks stirred controversy as he criticized Congress leaders for chanting slogans such as ‘Jai Ganga Maiya’ and ‘Jai Narmada Maiya.’ He openly challenged the party, stating that if they disagreed with his comments, they should expel him. Qureshi emphasized that all political parties, including Congress, must recognize that Muslims are not slaves to them. He questioned the rationale behind Muslim support for any party if job opportunities remain scarce and access to the police, army, or navy is restricted.

Qureshi’s proclamation displays valour and gallantry, setting a precedent for fellow Muslims within his party to resist capitulation, oppression, and intimidation.
