● The National Rally President Jordan Bardella could become the next Prime Minister of President Macron.

● More and more Muslims are leaving the country due to the growing islamophobia and racism.

With 30% of the French votes and 30 of France’s 81 European Parliamentary seats, the far-right party comes far ahead of President Macron’s centrist party Renaissance.

They obtained twice the votes that went to the political party in power.

This forced President Macron to announce the dissolution of the National Assembly.

Marine Le Pen, the historic leader of the party and daughter to the infamous Jean-Marie Le Pen, -known for his reputation as a torturer during the war of independence in Algeria and for his anti-Semitic declarations-, said to the French press that Jordan Bardella would become the next Prime Minister.

The left has already announced that they will unite to prevent this from happening, while the conservative party Les Republicains wants to make a deal with the National Rally.

In Marseille, the local police arrested a Muslim woman at the train station. As we do not know yet the reason for her arrest, the way she was treated shows that racist citizens or police officers are no longer worried about using discrimination or sometimes violence towards individuals they consider not to be welcome in the country.

But has President Macron been treating Muslims just as any other citizens?

The fact is that the presidency of Emmanual Macron has been the worst for the Muslim community in France.

He allowed police officers to enter mosques with dogs, throw Qurans on the floor. Many Muslim associations have been banned.

The NGO called Barakacity, which was helping millions of Muslims around the world was dissolved and its members were humiliated in their own. Its leader Idriss Sihamedi at the time, was so scared for his life that he turned to Turkey, asking for political asylum. He is now living in the UK, home to thousands of Muslim families fleeing France in fear of their children being taken for having learnt Arabic or wearing a hijab.

In December 2023, the high school Averroes lost the contract binding it to the State, meaning that it would lose all fundings. It was created 20 years ago and is one of the best schools in the region. It is also one of the only 2 Muslim schools in France that had such a contract.

Many excuses were used and in spite of impeccable reports from the National Education’s inspection, the decision was made because “of a lack of teachings on homosexuality and on other religions”

No such accusations have ever been made against the 300 Jewish schools in France which receive funding from the state, without any problems.

Indeed, it will be hard for the far-right party to do any better in terms of islamophobia and stigmatisation of Muslims than the government in power.

Muslims having been already heavily criminalised by the current French authorities, it is no surprise that Jordan Bardella might become the next French Prime Minister.

For many years, this political party has been manipulated and used by the major political parties, both left and right, to ensure a guaranteed victory in the presidential elections. Now, the threat might no longer scare the French voters who are less and less embarrassed to show their support towards him.

Muslims have indeed a very gloomy future in France.
