Scores of protesters rallied in the Bangladeshi capital on Saturday, delivering a resounding condemnation of Israel’s cold-blooded murderous rampage on the Gaza Strip.
Millions of demonstrators gathered at Suhrawardy Park in the Dhaka University area, waving thousands of Palestinian flags and chanting slogans such as “Free, Free Palestine.” Some were heard saying, “Open the borders and we will defend them!”. The rally echoed powerful calls for sanctions, and a unified boycott by Muslim-majority nations.
Many protesters held defiant images of U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with ‘blood’ splattered over them. Symbolic coffins and effigies representing civilian casualties in Gaza were carried through the crowds, highlighting the depth of public outrage.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party, led by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, along with other political parties, voiced their full solidarity with the demonstration.
Bangladesh, a Muslim-majority nation of 170 million, has no diplomatic ties with Israel and remains a staunch advocate for the freedom of Palestinians.
