  • Burger King Israel will distribute vouchers worth 480,000 shekels ($125,900) to Israeli soldiers and reservists as part of a settlement following a 2022 lawsuit.
  • The chain will issue 8,727 vouchers, each worth 55 shekels ($14.40), and compensate the plaintiff with 9,600 shekels ($2,500) plus legal fees.

Burger King Israel is set to distribute vouchers worth 480,000 shekels ($125,900) to Israeli occupation soldiers and reservists following a legal settlement.

The decision comes in the wake of a 2022 lawsuit filed by customers who claimed they were misled into consuming non-kosher food at one of the chain’s Israeli branches. The complaint alleged that the branch continued to display a kosher certification outside the store despite having lost its kosher status more than a year prior.

While Burger King denied the allegations, it acknowledged that the exterior signage was removed following the filing of the lawsuit.

Judge Rachel Arkobi, who approved the settlement, stated: “There is no dispute that the sign at the mall presented the branch as kosher, establishing a personal claim for the plaintiff.”

As part of the agreement, the chain will issue 8,727 vouchers, each valued at 55 shekels ($14.40), redeemable for one year at any kosher-certified branch.

The plaintiff will receive 9,600 shekels ($2,500), along with additional compensation to cover legal expenses.
