American boxer Gervonta Davis has embraced Islam, adopting the name Abdul Wahid, which translates to “Servant of the One.” The 29-year-old boxer’s conversion took place on Christmas Eve, December 24, signifying a significant step in his personal, spiritual and religious journey as a Muslim.

Abdul Wahid’s shahadah (testimony of faith) took place at Masjid Hidayah with Imam Hassan Somali and Raha Batts. The amazing news was announced on Mutah Beale’s X page.

Abdul Wahid competes in various weight divisions, holding titles in the WBA regular title in the light middleweight and lightweight divisions. Despite recent legal matters, including a brief prison stay, he continues to make waves in the boxing world, with his most recent victory over Ryan Garcia in April 2023.

Crucially, when an individual embraces Islam, all their past sins are forgiven, symbolising a spiritual rebirth akin to that of a newborn.

Islam continues to be the fastest-growing religion globally, experiencing the highest rates of conversion despite the mainstream media’s misrepresentation, fallacious and negative portrayal of its beliefs and followers.

Muslims are regarded as one body, transcending differences in race, gender, ethnicity, nationality, tribe, age, social standing, class, and wealth- a collective of 1.8 billion individuals!

We at S2J News are elated for you brother Abdul Wahid and wish to welcome you to your Muslim family. Allahu Akbar!
