  • Netflix faces criticism for releasing another film with unabashedly Islamophobic content.
  • “Trigger Warning” has sparked outrage over its portrayal of Arabs and Muslims, including scenes depicting Muslim men attacking an aid truck labelled with “American Relief Organisation” in the Syrian desert.

Netflix adds to its catalog yet another film that has sparked criticism for its unabashedly Islamophobic content.

Jessica Alba’s return to the screen in the action film Trigger Warning after a five-year hiatus has sparked outrage among viewers, with many questioning the portrayal of Arabs and Muslims.

In the film’s opening scenes, Muslim men wearing scarves are depicted firing upon an aid truck marked with “American Relief Organisation,” traversing the Syrian desert. Curiously, in real life, it is the Israelis who have been perpetrating these actions.

The film features Alba as Parker, a special forces commando investigating her father’s death in suspicious circumstances, and includes scenes where American characters engage in combat with Arab characters labeled as “terrorists” in the subtitles.

The Muslim community is evidently finding it increasingly tiresome that Muslims are consistently depicted as antagonists in both Hollywood and Bollywood.

“After all the bombing, killing, & terrorising that the US inflicts on the Middle East, you still have the audacity to feature Arabs as terrorists?!” expressed one user on X, formerly Twitter. “Shame on your racism!”

Despite holding the number one position among the top ten films on the streaming platform, it has garnered scathing reviews from major film review platforms.

IMDB scored the film: 4.6/10
