  • JFS School in Harrow has facilitated the sending of cards and letters from students to IDF soldiers.
  • At the school, Sixth Form students met Aviv Kochavi, former Chief of General Staff of the IDF, who delivered a speech outlining why the “IDF is regarded as The Moral Army.”

The Jewish Free School is a mixed, Comprehensive School in Harrow, London.

Interestingly, whilst many schools in the UK are prohibited from expressing their views pertaining to the ongoing genocide unfolding in Gaza, Jewish Free School has faced no such prohibitions.

In a blog post on their school website towards the end of last year, titled “IDF – The Moral Army,” a description was provided of how students in Years 12 and 13 had the “rare privilege” of an audience with Aviv Kochavi, the former Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces.

In a distinct blog post on the school’s website, an Israeli Defense Forces soldier is portrayed expressing gratitude to students from the Jewish Free School in London for their letters and cards:

The School continues to offer a residential programme for their students in Israel. The school website reads:

“JFS is proud of its long standing and deep connections to the State of Israel. For over 40 years the school has offered a bespoke residential programme in Israel to provide an opportunity for studentsIsra to immerse themselves in life in Israel…”

In the past four years, three JFS pupils are believed to have died by suicide.

Following the most recent tragedy of Mia Janin, a year 10 pupil who tragically took her own life due to a series of bullying, the school was criticised for not dealing with gender-based bullying adequately.
