In a significant development following the events at the Nova music concert on October 7, 42 victims have initiated legal action against the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the Israeli police, and the country’s internal security service. It is seeking 200 million shekels in damages according to Israeli newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth.
Several victims assert that the Israeli army fired uncontrollably at them during the incident. This claim has raised concerns about the response tactics employed by the IDF, prompting a closer examination of the military’s role in the tragedy at the Nova concert.
The civil lawsuit, filed on behalf of the victims, alleges negligence and a failure to act on credible warnings of a potential security threat. The plaintiffs contend that authorities possessed prior knowledge of potential risks associated with the Nova concert but neglected to implement adequate measures to ensure the safety of attendees.
The lawsuit was officially filed on Monday, representing the first of its kind against the Israeli security agencies. It calls on them to assume responsibility for the events on October 7th.
Evidence of Israel’s Foreknowledge of the October 7th Attack
A document obtained by Israeli authorities at least a year before the attack “outlined, point by point, exactly the kind of devastating invasion that led to the deaths of about 1,200 people,” The New York Times reported.
The 40-page document, scrutinised by the newspaper, didn’t specify the timing of the attack. However, it presented a blueprint seemingly followed by Hamas: initiating a rocket barrage, disrupting surveillance, and executing waves of gunmen entering Israel by both land and air.
