  • Rafah border crossing briefly opens, providing essential aid to Palestinians in Gaza suffering from severe shortages due to an Israeli blockade.
  • A convoy of 20 aid trucks, carrying medicine and food supplies, enters Gaza from Egypt, while over 200 trucks with 3,000 tons of aid wait near the crossing for delivery. Martin Griffiths, the UN’s emergency relief coordinator, welcomes this effort. However, it has been said that this is only a drop in the ocean compared to what the Gazans need.

The Rafah border crossing connecting Egypt to Gaza has been temporarily opened, allowing a limited supply of essential aid to reach Palestinians facing severe shortages of food, medicine, and water in a region under an Israeli blockade.

On Saturday, a convoy consisting of 20 aid trucks made its way into the Gaza Strip from Egypt, carrying much-needed medicine and food supplies.

For days, over 200 trucks loaded with approximately 3,000 tons of aid had been stationed near the crossing, ready to deliver assistance to Gaza.

Martin Griffiths, the United Nations’ emergency relief coordinator, expressed his relief of the delivery, noting that it came in response to  “days of deep and intense negotiations with all relevant sides to make sure that aid operation into Gaza resumes as quickly as possible and with the right conditions”.

“I am confident that this delivery will be the start of a sustainable effort to provide essential supplies – including food, water, medicine and fuel – to the people of Gaza, in a safe, dependable, unconditional and unimpeded manner,” he added.

Al Jazeera’s James Bays said, “I have to say 20 trucks, given that Gaza used to get – in terms of aid coming into Gaza before this conflict started – about 100 trucks of aid a day … so this really is a drop in the ocean.”

May Allah swt nourish the Gazans with nourishment and protection and may we all be a source of good for them…Ameen
