A 27-year-old named Wasim, along with his relative Asif and his friend Azharuddin were in a pick-up jeep when a Hindutva mob assaulted them near Narol village on Thursday (Aug 17). The mob wielded sharp-edged weapons, sticks, and iron rods during the attack. Wasim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to B.D.M. Government Hospital in Kotputli, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries,” the report detailed. “Among those who allegedly attacked the trio were forest officials,” it revealed.

A report was lodged at Harosa police station, and on Friday, the police apprehended 10 men, including four forest officials, for further investigation. The first information report was filed by Wasim’s father, Tayyab Khan.

According to the report submitted to the police, Tayyab Khan, Wasim’s father, mentioned that his son had purchased the wood from a local dealer during the day and had taken the pick-up jeep to Rampur to load it later in the evening. “The villagers used a JCB excavator to block the road and coerced the youths to disembark from their vehicle. Another Forest Department jeep, which was tailing them, also arrived at the scene,” the FIR outlined.

The report stated that the police confiscated the forest officials’ vehicle, and the FIR was registered under Sections 302 (murder), 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (causing hurt), and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code. Neemrana Additional Superintendent of Police Jagram Meena was quoted saying, “The investigation is ongoing, and the accused will be apprehended shortly.”

“A mob attacked a Muslim youth, resulting in his death, while his two companions were injured. The attack was based on suspicion that they were engaged in unauthorized woodcutting in a forest in the Rampur area of of Bansur tehsil in Rajasthan’s Alwar district on Thursday night. Among those implicated in the attack were forest officials,” the officer added. Among those implicated in the attack were forest officials,” the officer added. The report noted that among the detained individuals were six villagers.

However, Wasim’s family maintains that the circumstances surrounding his demise have been obscured, alleging that his Muslim faith made him a deliberate target. They say that the mob’s disturbing anti-Muslim slogans, notably the chilling refrain “cut these Muslims,” accentuate the gravity of the incident.

May Allah (swt) grant solace to Wasim’s family. We pray the following hadith will provide them with comfort:

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him said:

“The martyr does not feel the pain of being killed except as one of you feels the pinch of an insect bite.
