- Israel has renewed airstrikes and killed 104 people in the largest Israeli attack since the ceasefire was announced in early October.
- Since the ceasefire announcement on October 7, at least 211 people have been killed and over 500 injured as a result of Israeli attacks.
Israel has renewed airstrikes in Gaza, killing 104 people in less than 12 hours on Tuesday night after an Israeli soldier was reportedly injured in an alleged Hamas attack, which Hamas has denied responsibility for.
On Tuesday evening, Israeli aircraft launched intensive airstrikes in multiple areas of Gaza, with the Gaza Civil Defence Agency saying that at least 46 children were among those killed.
International calls for restraint came swiftly from France and Germany, both urging a return to the ceasefire to prevent further civilian casualties, but the United States supported the attack.

While on Air Force One and during his tour of Asia, US President Donald Trump said: “They killed an Israeli soldier, so the Israelis hit back. And they should hit back,” but he added that “nothing’s going to jeopardise” the truce.
Gaza’s main hospital, Al-Shifa, said one of the strikes hit its backyard, with Al-Awda Hospital saying it had received several bodies, including those of four children, killed in the bombing of Gaza’s central Nuseirat refugee camp.
This comes after Hamas announced it would delay handing over the body of another hostage, due on Tuesday, blaming repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire.
After the attack on Tuesday night, Israel stated that it was adhering to the ceasefire again, and Trump’s comments appeared to support that claim; however, following the major escalation, Israel conducted another strike on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of two people in Gaza.

Israel claimed in the latest strike that it was targeting military infrastructure where weapons were being stored, but the strike now casts further doubt on Israel’s willingness to comply with the truce.
