  • Benjamin Netanyahu, wanted by the ICC for war crimes, nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, highlighting their partnership in the Gaza genocide.
  • Since October 2023, over 56,500 Palestinian civilians have been killed in Gaza, with U.S. arms sales facilitating the violence.

In a chilling display of moral inversion, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a man wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes and crimes against humanity, has nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. This nomination, announced during a White House dinner on July 7, 2025, is not merely a political gesture; it is a damning endorsement of genocide, delivered by one war criminal to another. Netanyahu, known as “the Genocidaire” for his role in the brutal systematic destruction and killing of civilians in Gaza, has rewarded Trump, the “Genocide Enabler,” for his unwavering support of Israel’s slaughter of Palestinian civilians. This act is a grotesque parody of peace, akin to Adolf Hitler nominating his weapons and money supplier for the Nobel Peace Prize. When a war criminal nominates someone for a peace prize, it makes one thing abundantly clear: the nominee is a villain, not a hero.

The Nomination: A War Criminal’s Endorsement

On July 7, 2025, during a formal dinner at the White House, Benjamin Netanyahu presented Donald Trump with a letter nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize. This nomination is not an isolated incident but part of a pattern of endorsements that include a recent nomination by Pakistan’s unelected government, which was allegedly in exchange for a dinner with the dictator and a mineral deal, without civilian authority’s involvement. These nominations are not about peace; they are about political favours and complicity in atrocities.

Netanyahu’s nomination is particularly egregious given his own legal troubles. On November 21, 2024, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity, including starvation as a method of warfare. The charges stem from the ongoing genocide in Gaza, where over 56,500 Palestinians civilians, have been killed since October 2023. Yet, Netanyahu dares to nominate Trump, his chief enabler, for a prize meant to honor peace. This is akin to Hitler nominating his arms suppliers during World War II, a comparison that underscores the moral bankruptcy of both leaders.

Trump’s direct involvement in Netanyahu’s legal battles further exposes their complicity. On June 26, 2025, Trump publicly called for Israeli courts to drop corruption cases against Netanyahu, describing the trials as a “witch hunt” and demanding they be “cancelled immediately” or that Netanyahu be pardoned. This interference in another state’s judicial process is a blatant attempt to shield a war criminal from accountability, mirroring Trump’s own history of attacking legal proceedings against him. Netanyahu’s corruption trial, ongoing since 2020, involves charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust, with delays requested on “diplomatic and security grounds,” a move Trump supported despite international criticism. This act of collusion between the two accused of grave misconduct highlights their shared disdain for justice.

The Nobel Peace Prize, intended to recognize those who have “done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations,” has been in the past and continues to be desecrated by such acts. Trump’s record is one of enabling war, not peace. His administrative policies have exacerbated the suffering in Gaza, where children are deliberately targeted by missiles, civilian homes are bombed, hospitals are bombed, and aid is blockaded. The latest war crimes include strikes on civilian areas, such as the horrific attack on al-Baqa cafe on the Gaza seafront, killing dozens, including children, and the ongoing siege that has pushed Gaza to the brink of famine. Netanyahu’s own defense minister, Israel Katz, admitted to using hunger as a “main pressure lever”, a clear violation of international law.

The Abraham Accords: A Green Pass for Genocide

The Abraham Accords, the supposed basis for Trump’s nomination, are a hypocritical facade, allowing Israel to continue its occupation and violence under the guise of diplomacy. Signed in 2020, these agreements normalized relations between Israel and several Arab states, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco, bypassing the Palestinian genocide. They are a green pass for genocide, not peace.

Since October 2023, the accords have provided cover for Israel’s relentless assault on Gaza, where over 2.3 million people have been displaced and much of the territory reduced to rubble. The accords failed to address the root causes of regional instability or protect Palestinian lives. Instead, they facilitated trade, tourism, and security cooperation, ignoring an ongoing genocide and the suffering of millions. Trump’s role in these accords earned him accolades from Netanyahu, who now nominates him for the Nobel Peace Prize, ignoring the fact that Gaza has become the largest live crime scene and a graveyard for civilians.

The hypocrisy of the accords is further highlighted by the ongoing ceasefire negotiations. On July 7, 2025, Trump pushed for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, involving the release of hostages, mediated by Qatar and Egypt. However, this ceasefire is hollow given his simultaneous arming of Israel. Meanwhile, Israel’s latest war crimes, such as the direct targeting of children with missiles and the bombing of civilian infrastructure, continue unabated, facilitated by U.S. weapons.

On July 3, 2025, Gaza’s Government Media Office reported that Israel committed “26 bloody massacres” in 48 hours killing over 300 Palestinians, including 118 in the past 24 hours alone. At least 73 were killed since dawn, including 33 aid seekers at the controversial Israeli and U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid sites. The GHF, intended to distribute aid, has instead become a site of further violence, with over 650 Palestinians killed while seeking food since its establishment in late May 2025. Recent reports detail Israeli troops deliberately shooting at unarmed Palestinians seeking aid, as confirmed by Haaretz. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has called for investigations into these killings, noting that GHF’s operations have not replaced but exacerbated the humanitarian crisis. Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has stated that too much aid is going to Gaza and that none should enter to ensure an Israeli victory, a policy that aligns with Trump’s support for Israel’s military objectives over humanitarian concerns.

Trump’s Betrayal of His Electorate

Trump’s nomination by Netanyahu is a betrayal of his electorate, who were promised a focus on domestic issues and an end to the cycle of endless conflict. Instead, they have seen their tax dollars fund a genocide. The Pentagon’s redirection of resources from Ukraine to Israel exemplifies this betrayal. While Ukraine struggled against Russia, Trump pressured them sign the mineral deal, and despite seizing 50% of Ukraine’s mineral resources, he has chosen to prioritize Israel’s war machine, freezing weapons shipments to Kyiv in favour of stockpiling them for Tel Aviv. This decision, framed as a response to the Lippmann Gap, is a smokescreen for Trump’s real agenda: unconditional support for Israel, regardless of the cost to American interests or global stability.

On February 28, 2025,the Trump administration approved a nearly $3 billion arms deal to Israel, bypassing congressional review. This included 35,500 MK 84 and BLU-117 bombs and 4,000 Predator warheads, which have been used indiscriminately against Gaza. Despite a fragile ceasefire in the Israel-Iran conflict, Trump’s administration has continued to arm Israel, ensuring the slaughter of civilians continues. The U.S. vetoed a UN Security Council resolution on June 4, 2025, which demanded an “unconditional and permanent” ceasefire, the release of hostages, and unimpeded humanitarian aid, ensuring Israel’s freedom to continue its assault.

Trump’s interference in Netanyahu’s corruption trial on June 26, 2025, further underscores his betrayal. By calling for the dropping of charges against Netanyahu, Trump not only shields a war criminal but also undermines the rule of law, a principle he once claimed to uphold. This act of collusion between two men, both accused of grave misconduct, highlights their shared disdain for justice.

A Villain’s Endorsement

The nomination of Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize by Benjamin Netanyahu is a travesty. It is a celebration of genocide, a betrayal of global justice, and a reminder that when war criminals endorse each other, the world must not be fooled. This is not a peace prize; it is a prize for complicity in atrocities. The Nobel Committee, if it has any integrity left, must reject this nomination and condemn the actions that led to it. The time for accountability is now. Trump is no peacemaker; he is a genocide enabler and Netanyahu is his accomplice.
