Western influencers have praised Pakistan’s treatment of Onijah, noting that “if this were any other government, they would have aggressively deported her”.

Many Tiktokers have stated that the kind and patient treatment she has received has made them want to visit Pakistan. Onijah is now returning to New York.

New Yorker, Onijah Andrew Robinson who has become a social media sensation this week, is finally on her way home.

Onijah, 32, travelled to Karachi, Pakistan to meet her online love interest. She has reported to have been refusing to leave the country after his family stated they cannot marry.

She was also photographed camping outside the residence of her now 19-year-old romantic interest. Nidal Ahmed Memon parents allegedly intervened in the relationship though it is believed they had vacated the premises.

A young man, who claims to be her son, addressed the situation in a video…

…stating that she suffers from “mental bipolar disorder”

He explained his efforts to facilitate her return to the U.S. as “she can’t think clearly at this moment”. He said in a clip shared by Viral Verse “She was not married to anyone. I am trying to help her”.

Onijah is reported to be a mother of four and has consistently refused to leave Pakistan. Despite initially accepting an offer for a flight back, she is still refused to leave the country.

She was also reportedly admitted into the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) due to her mental health concerns. However, later escaped from the facilities.

In addition to claiming marital status with her alleged partner, she has demanded financial support from the government to “rebuild Pakistan”.

‘My plan is to rebuild this entire country. I’m asking for $100k, and I need $20k in cash by the end of this week. That’s my demand from the government,’ she said in one press conference.

‘The government needs to fix these streets… it’s ridiculous here, I don’t like it. You all need to understand that Pakistan needs new buses, taxis, and cars.’

Influencer @shey.luh revealed that Onijah’s pictures were ‘very edited’, sparking some online accusations of ‘catfishing’.

When she arrived in Pakistan in October, the content creator said she did meet her ‘boyfriend’ and his family, but the parents immediately said nothing can happen between them.

However, other reports claimed that Nidal never showed up for the meeting with Onijah.

She attracted media attention when, following the breakup, Onijah refused to leave and instead “camped” outside the family’s residence. While it appears that Onijah and Nidal are not legally married, some social media users have speculated that the couple may have participated in an online nikkah ceremony.

Additionally, she has claimed that the couple plans to have a child and relocate to Dubai. Eventually, Onijah’s tourist visa expired, and an NGO offered to assist her with a flight back to the United States.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori assisted in extending Onijaha’s expired visa and arranging a flight back to the United States; however, she reportedly did not board the flight last week. Officer Kaleem Khan Moosa informed the publication that, instead, she took a taxi to Nidala’s former apartment, where she stayed for “nearly 30 hours “before relocating to a charity shelter. The publication also reported that Karachi authorities stated Onijah had not filed any formal complaint against Nidal. “We learned that an American woman is present in the building in connection with a local man”, Senior Superintendent of Police Arif Aziz reportedly said.

Despite this, another video then shortly saw Onijah stating that she would be willing to go back home.

‘I would like you guys to book my ticket back to New York,’ she said in a clip, according to the outlet. ‘Money is short right now, and I will appreciate it.’

In a letter written by South Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mahzoor Ali, Dawn.com reported that it is evident the experience has had a “significant impact” on Onijah’s well-being.

“Several individuals approached her with ‘ulterior motives,’ further compromising her security,” it stated. “Given her status as a foreign national, the situation placed her in a vulnerable position, endangering her life. As a result, the police authorities intervened to manage the situation.” The report further noted that Onijah required “urgent medical attention” and was “temporarily placed under the supervision of medical authorities for psychological support.” “In light of these circumstances, the chief of metropolitan police has been asked to consult relevant parties to provide guidance on her care.”

During one particular press conference, charity worker Ramzan Chippa illustrated great patience after Onijah lashed out at him, accusing him of talking too much. In addition, Onijah was filmed telling reporters abruptly, “It’s my religion I don’t wish to speak about this”.

Onijah was also filmed walking into a McDonald’s, after which Chippa followed her in to ensure she was safe and okay. Onijah proceeded to order a very large meal.

Numerous Western influencers have highlighted how gentle the Pakistanis have been with Onijah and how “if this were any other Government, they would have aggressively deported her by 72 hours”. This story has prompted intrigue in the country as many have stated how they would like to visit Pakistan now.
