Genesis 9:25-27 (NIV):
“Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers. He also said, ‘Praise be to the Lord, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem. May God extend Japheth’s territory; may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be the slave of Japheth.’”
Certain Rabbis have used this passage to justify the enslavement of African Americans. Genesis 9:20-27 tells the story of Noah and his sons. In this account, Noah curses his son Ham’s descendants after Ham disrespects him by seeing his father naked. The key verses are:
Historically, some Rabbis and religious authorities have invoked the “Curse of Ham”—though the curse was actually placed on Ham’s son, Canaan—to justify the brutal enslavement of African people. They in turn labelled Africans as Ham’s descendants, alleging they were divinely ordained for servitude.
The use of biblical scripture here to support social and racial hierarchies, particularly during the transatlantic slave trade and slavery in the Americas is grotesque.
The antithesis of this, lies in the final sermon of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w). He (s.a.w), made a powerful statement against racism, emphasising the equality of all people regardless of their race, ethnicity, or status.
“All mankind is from Adam and Eve. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor does a non-Arab have any superiority over an Arab; a white has no superiority over a black, nor does a black have any superiority over a white — none have superiority over another except by piety and good action.”
Evidently, we see how in Islam, a person’s worth is measured solely by their righteousness and deeds, not by race, nationality, or skin colour. The Prophet’s timeless message remains a powerful call for equality and unity among all people.
Justifying Land Theft through Genesis 15:18
Christian and Jewish Zionists cite Genesis 15:18 from the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) when claiming that God promised the Jews a broader land that includes parts of modern-day Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, and other territories. The verse states:
“On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram and said, ‘To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates.’” (Genesis 15:18, NIV)
Consequently, this passage refers to a broader “Promised Land” extending from the Nile to the Euphrates River, encompassing areas that include portions of present-day Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq.

Advocating for Jewish settlements in Gaza extends beyond the “fantasy” of a few Messianic ‘hardliners,’ such as Ben-Gvir, represents a troubling consensus among a substantial portion of Israeli civil society.
There exist 440 Israeli colonies in the West Bank, accommodating more than half a million settlers, whose presence is deemed illegal. These settlers, armed and in control of 80% of the West Bank’s water resources, wield considerable influence. Furthermore, there are 565 checkpoints where soldiers operate with unaccountable impunity.
The UN Resolution 2334 designates these settlements as illegal. However, who finances these settlements?
The founder of ‘Christians United for Israel,’ Pastor John Hagee, is a prominent Christian Zionist. He not only advocates for Israel but also harbours expansionist ambitions for the illegal, state of Israel. Christians United for Israel spends $7 million annually on lobbying. Ironically, despite being openly anti-Semitic (Hager has stated that the Anti Christ will be partially Jewish). At 83, he continues to be a staunch supporter of the Fascistic Israeli regime.
Roman Abramovich is another financier. Four companies he either owns or controls in the British Virgin Islands have contributed more than $100m (£74m) to Elad, a group that supports settlements in the Palestinian neighbourhood of Silwan in occupied East Jerusalem. This transfer was made prior to him obtaining Israeli citizenship.
The Hertog Foundation extends its financial backing to Elad and The David Horowitz Freedom Centre, who employ prominent Islamophobes Katie Hopkins and Tommy Robinson. Notably, the Hertog Foundation allocates funds to The Friends of the IDF and the Middle Eastern Forum.
Fundamentally, the aforementioned financiers have, in essence, enabled considerable malevolence: widespread genocide, the forcible displacement of Palestinians from their residences, the propagation of Islamophobia, and the occurrence of terrorist assaults on innocent Muslim communities. Isn’t it time they are held accountable for funding abhorrent war crimes in the Middle East and causing discord in the U.K and Europe?
