The difficulty in comprehending and articulating a case for the Trinity: the central tenet of contemporary Christian doctrine frequently prompts Christian apologists to avoid discussing or defending it in debates with Muslims. Instead, they frequently attempt to equate the profound complexities of the Trinity with Tawheed. This approach reflects a reluctance to grapple with the perplexing nature of their own faith.
“Muslims believe the Qur’an will intercede for them on Judgment Day, which means you do not believe in one God.”
We’ve encountered this postulation from various Christian apologists so often that it has become somewhat tedious. As mentioned, it appears to be a rather desperate attempt to discredit Tawheed due to the intrinsic logical flaws in the concept of the Trinity.
Consequently, when the same argument was made by Sam Shamoun in the recent debate on Fresh and Fit, the Muslims on the panel, Daniel Haqiqatjou and Ijaz the Trini were seen trying to contain their laughter.
Nevertheless, let’s take a closer look at the argument being presented.
Muslim (804) narrated that Abu Umaamah al-Baahili said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “Read the Qur'aan, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection interceding for its companions.”
Christians often reference the above hadith to argue that the Qur’an is perceived as a living entity by Muslims, one they believe will offer them salvation.
However, the intercession of the Qur’an, the fasting of Muslims, and even the testimony of our own limbs serve as evidence for our case on the Day of Judgment. This understanding thoroughly and decisively refutes the erroneous argument of a separate divine entity proposed by Christian apologists.
Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Fasting and the Quran will intercede for the servant on the Day of Resurrection. Fasting will say: O Lord, I prevented him from food and desires during the day, so let me intercede for him. The Quran will say: O Lord, I prevented him from sleeping during the night, so let me intercede for him. Thus, they will both intercede for him." Source: Musnad Ahmad 6626. Graded Sahih
This is lazy Christian apologetics. Furthermore, entry into paradise is ultimately granted by Allah’s mercy rather than by one’s deeds as a evident in the hadith below:
“No one will enter Paradise by his deeds alone." The companions asked, "Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, “Not even me, unless Allah encompasses me with His mercy." (Sahih Bukhari, Book 76, Hadith 577; Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 349)
We see here how Allah is the only one judge who we are accountable to, the only Lord of the heavens and the earth that we will return to.
